The Italian Cultural Center of San Diego (ICC) is proud to present Nick Gabriel‘s new adaptation of SIX CHARACTERS IN SEARCH OF AN AUTHOR (1921) by Nobel Prize winner Luigi Pirandello, on tour in San Diego after premiering at the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles and Chapman University.
In an effort to attract modern audiences to Pirandello’s work, Gabriel’s adaptation contemporizes the language and circumstances of the play, while maintaining the essence of Pirandello’s original vision. Even as he masterfully encourages audiences to consider the relationship between reality and perception, Pirandello poignantly weaves together themes of negligence and redemption in this — his seminal Existentialist comedy.
The performance features a cast comprised entirely of former and current students of Chapman’s Theatre Performance program.
The show will be followed by a Q&A with the artists and refreshments provided by Pansy Club Catering.
This event celebrates the Week of Italian Language in the World and is made possible by the support of the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles and Chapman University’s Ferrucci Institute.
