Playwright, TV writer, and educator Ali Viterbi intertwines the historical, the personal, and the fictional in a presentation dedicated to Italian Jews through the generations.
This lecture will include a brief history of Italian Jewry from 70 CE to today, as it connects with the unique story of Viterbi’s family. Viterbi will introduce a poignant poem by renowned Italian Jewish writer Primo Levi, which served as inspiration for her play IN EVERY GENERATION. Scenes from the play will be read by Beatrice Basso (Women of Valor; Life Sucks) and Marco Barricelli (Little Foxes; Luca), with interludes to set each scene and explain the Italian Jewish references therein.
Hot chocolate and iconic Krumiri cookies will be prepared by chef Mark Pelliccia and shared.
