This talk, by Boston-based early modern Italian historian dr. Franca Barricelli, will explore the remarkable life and art of one of the most accomplished artists of the seventeenth century. Daughter of the baroque painter, Orazio Gentileschi, Artemisia (1593-c.1656) overcame grievous personal challenges to become an international success, with her paintings in high demand in the royal courts of Europe. Learn about her life, her skill, and the boldly transgressive nature of her paintings through an exploration of some of her most iconic works.

The presentation will be followed by a Q&A with Prof. Barricelli.

Ciambelle al vino will be the treat prepared by Chef Mark Pelliccia.
