A humor-filled lecture about the linguistic adventures of an Italian teacher in the States
Does language reveal culture; does it shape our thinking? Is the essence of a country revealed through linguistic quirks and habits? These are some of the questions that Italian teacher and writer Simonetta Carr explores in her humoristic presentation. As an Italian instructor around the world for several decades, Simonetta finds lightness and revelations in the grammatical differences between Italian and English. This in-person lecture, kindly hosted in Balboa Park’s Hall of Nations, will make both native Italians and students of Italian laugh at the peculiarities one needs to learn (or unlearn!) while going from one language to another.
Single servings of delicious Italian Californian gelato by GelatoLove will conclude the lecture on a sweet and refreshing note.
