Stefania Candeliere

Stefania Candeliere, a native of Matera—one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the European Cultural Capital in 2019—has dedicated her academic career to ancient world history and earned her Master’s degree from the University of Rome La Sapienza. Stefania’s passions are not limited to the study of ancient civilizations, as she is also an avid artist. A historian who finds joy in the tactile process of ceramic or fine art creation, after earning a Master in Archeology, Stefania has continued to be fascinated by the stories objects tell and how they reflect the human experience across time. She moved to San Diego to be with her family and has taught Italian to students of all ages ever since.
